Thursday Thoughts

Well, there was only one successful prank played on me yesterday. It just happens that it was my Wii that played it on me...Yes, you read correctly, my Wii game system. Actually the Wii Fit portion. I get home and get ready to do a little workout and I turn on my Wii Fit balance board and it tells me that the balance board doesn't seem to be working properly. I am thinking "No way! I just bought this thing!!". Then the screen says "April Fool's!" Very funny! Way to use that internal clock and calendar to your advantage Wii Fit! I like that.

I was 20 minutes late for work today. Just couldn't get out of bed. Gee, I wonder why? Could it be the dread of going to work? Of being at work and thinking how much MORE productive I could be at home? Or someplace that's else? Yea...I am enjoying pushing the envelope here and there. A funny note: As I write this I am listening to "Dead End Job" by The Police! Ha! Perfect!

Watching REAPER last night that I had DVR'd. LOVE that show, so glad it came back, even though way late! Last night Sam had to catch a soul who was a vampire and the vessel was...you guessed it...a stake. the best part was when Sam grabbed the stake from the box the Devil was holding the Devil said "Looking sharp Buffy! Looking sharp!" Any show that can make a Buffy Reference and still hold it's own and not be a copy cat is awesome. Ben and Sock are a riot as usual. I hope this show was renewed for next season and will start on time.

Exciting things coming up at two local and beautiful historic Theaters!

Chris Botti
Saturday, May 16, 2009-8PM

I am excited that my spring is coming together with some new things to do. Chip Coffee from Paranormal State will be really neat, I am just doing the presentation because there are WAY too many people there to do a ghost hunt. Who knows, maybe I will be able to get a picture with "Uncle Chip"! Then Chris Botti. I had first heard of him when he played with Sting. Since then he has played with many amazing artitsts and has several solo albums out. He will be amazing I am sure and Henlib, Kevin and Tom and I will have fun since we have planned the weekend around the concert.

I leave you all with a great song that is currently playing on my MP3 player. A fun little ditty called "Groove is in the Heart" by Deee-Lite. I think I should play this song every time I get blue...how can you be unhappy listening to this...or sit still?

Thursday Thoughts

Where should I start? I have a lot of thoughts today.

1. Why is it that everytime I start a project at work and get a few weeks into it thinking that I am halfway though and making progress, the powers that be decide that they are "rethinking" their strategy? I can understand if this happened once in a while, but it has happened for the last 5 or 6 projects and frankly I am starting to get REALLY annoyed. I have even asked the questions, "This is the direction we are going in, everyone is on board, etc?" before I start a project now, but it doesn't seem to help. I need to get out of here, I can't hardly breathe today from this unorganized mess. I used to try to keep everyone else as organized as I am but it just isn't working. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink...

2. I am addicted to the show Paranormal State on A&E. They are the only show I have seen that actually combines paranormal research with the social and human aspect. They enlist psychics, mediums and counselors and have helped many families deal with issues that are paranormal as well as human in nature. They seem to have found some compelling evidence for the paranormal which is really cool, but the thing that I love is that at the heart of all these investigations there is concern for the people it affects, especially psychologically. It's amazing how teaching people to take back the power in a situation can do.

One Psychic/Medium that is regularly on the show is Chip Coffey and will be in my city in May. Love him! I am going to go and see the panel he is on, which is taking place in the theater we did the "ghost hunt" and presentation in a few Halloweens. Here is the old post. The Director of PRS, Ryan, is my "paper soul mate", which means on paper we are a great match...if you believe what you read. Most importantly he has strong convictions and beliefs and is a good leader. I love the rest of the cast as well. If Elfie ever gets tired of Historical research, I would gladly take over! They all seem very real and down to earth. You should check it out, 10pm on Mondays on A&E.

3. That last thought was kinda long. So I will make this one short: I think I am gonna go home and play me some Tomb Raider.

4. I was thinking of starting a second blog. Just videos. Videos that I take on my new camera. Like road trips and silly things. What do you think?

5. Oh, Twilight. So Big Geek got the dvd, something I said I would NEVER buy. After she brought me her copy (she said she wouldn't watch it with me because I would laugh at it too much)I watched the entire two discs. I come to the same conclusions. The story was cool but they misssed the mark on many things. The DP tried too hard to get those money shots and many seemed forced and contrived. Edward was perfect. The Cullens were well cast adn should have been featured more. Jasper is AWESOME! The music was lame. The sound editing and music editing was HORRENDOUS!(It's amazing how more blindingly truthful listening to it on nice headphones is). Bella was terrible. I came to the conclusion that if everything else stayed the same, the one thing that would make me enjoy this movie the most is if they would have cast someone other than Kristen Stewart. She is terrible even laughable at times (think hospital bed argument with Edward). If this had been filmed 6-7 years ago, Rachel McAdams would have been my pick for Bella. But alas, we are stuck with the whiney, eye rolling Kristen Stewart.

No Seriously

Some random thoughts to get out so I can concentrate this afternoon:

  1. I am addicted to facebook. Only been on a week and already 53 friends, many of which were wonderfully surprising and happy meetings. I am enjoying this more than I thought so thanks to Ari who talked me into it with her voodoo ways! haha!
  2. Tomorrow is halloween! I can't wait! My friends and I are psyched for a great night out. My costume is AWESOME! I hope it will look good so I can post it next to pics of Alison Carroll and not look like "The slightly overweight Lara Croft" ahahah!
  3. Is it legal to murder your graphic designer? Ok, maybe I know the answer to this question already, but just wanted to check.
  4. Have you looked at the London Countdown buttom lately? Can't...Freakin'...Stand...it!!!
  5. Lamby wins for most snow so far! 6 inches! We got about 1 or 2 here, just a dusting but enough to make me say "Brrr! It's cold in here!" (That was a "Bring it On" reference BTW) How did Henlib fare? I heard there was lots of snow on the plateau!!!??? (ha, poet)
  6. Kevin kicked my ass in scrabble on facebook. I knew he would but I held my own for the first half. I think he beat me by 110 points or so...I hope I didn't bore him!:)
  7. Big Geek is my hero. She is my mail checker, key holder and my "Alfred" (you know, pickin me up from the airport and such) whilst I am away on vaca. I hope to find her something WICKED awesome on my travels as a thank-you!!
  8. I have worked hard to keep deadlines and move projects along so I could go on this trip. Some were easier than others...but I have done what I could do and will have to face whatever music is playing when I return.
  9. On the other hand: Who gives a shit? I'm goin' to LONDON to see ALYSA!!!

Thursday Thoughts!

Oh boy! Where do I start! This is like, one of the BEST WEEKS EVER!:)

  1. Went to the Post Office and applied for my passport last night. Passport pics are fun! I kid, but Roni the postlady was really friendly and it was actually an enjoyable experience.
  2. Joker for President? He's got my vote! Ahee-ahaa-ahaa... I did one of those campaign videos for Harvey Dent too, but I thought Joker was funnier actually.:) Lamby! You have created a monster!!!
  3. My eating habits are paying off (Low carb, smaller portions). I feel better, AND I am losing some poundage. Now to add some exercise to the mix!
  4. I know someone who is like a dog chasing cars...and yea, he wouldn't know what to do with one if he caught one. Unfortunately, I get that because I am the same way.
  5. It's official. I have a new celebrity crush...Aaron Eckhart. I can't help it, there is something about him, even tho he has butt chin and is sorta blonde. Sorry Bruce Wayne, but Rachel was right, I would have chosen Harvey Dent too. ( I can't believe I just admitted that) Ok, maybe I would have kept the love triangle, I mean, Why should a girl choose after all? Anywho, Aaron Eckhart. LOVE HIM!!!!!

Aaron as Harvey Dent in Dark Knight.

Thank you for Smoking! (Smokin' HOT)

Thursday Thoughts; Fractured Thoughts from a Fractured Mind

Sanity has once again settled in my bones. This last freak out was discouraging for me. You would think by now I would have a better hold on myself...funny how blogging about it actually helped, but makes me look like a bigger psycho than I actually am. Everyone deals with stress in different ways. I just tend to ignore it until it's too much and I break down for a few days. It also didn't help that I was suffering from a strange sinus sickness complete with dizziness, sore throat and fever/chills. I guess the fact that I admitted to having a breakdown is a good thing, huh?

Oh! Did I mention that Tuesday the 3rd was a New Moon? A coworker said that she wondered why her cats were acting so strangely that day...but then again...I'm no cat.

In other news, I am excited that my nephew Nathan is coming to visit this weekend. This is his "Birthday Get-Away with Crazy Aunt Carol". (Don't worry Henlib, I am still a responsible adult, no matter how crazy I sometimes am! ahah)I have some fun things planned (some which are surprises and I know Nate reads this from time to time so I won't say) and it will be a nice weekend weather wise here! We will have fun and I am looking forward to it!

I am sitting here typing this post after I had scarfed down my lunch. I have a lot to do yet today, but I feel like considering the beginning of my week (Monday: out sick, Tuesday: Mental breakdown)I have gotten quite a lot accomplished, and put many more irons in the fire. It feels overwhelming still, but I am one person, though an overachiever, and sometimes I just need to stop, take a breath and reorganize. I need to remind myself of that more often.

Every day that I wear a skirt, someone comments on my legs...today it was "you have very strong looking calf muscles". Thanks. That was random, but a compliment all the same. (To qualify: the person who made the comment is a friend and I am not worried about it and didn't take it in a harrassing way)

Wow I am jumping around a bit now in this post...isn't that crazy random and fractured?

At 2pm today I have a photo shoot for a few projects I am working on. I tried to convince the powers that be that I should make an appointment with the photographer for more than one project. Today I hope to accomplish shots for 3 projects! I hope it goes well!

I am currently reading Harper Lee's "To Kill A Mockingbird". Sure my english class in High School read this, but I didn't, just like 99% of books (with the exception of Shakespeare) I watched the movie instead. I know. Lame. I remember watching the movie and thinking "Wow. I wish I had read that book". Well, now I am, and I am loving every minute of it! (Special Thanks to Pinky's Library!)

Ok. I'm done. I need to get creative around here. How boring has this blog been lately? (with exception to the Flight of the Conchords videos of course!)

Thursday Thoughts

Thursday Thoughts is perfect on those Thursdays that I am busy but need to post a few things! Here we go again...

  1. Today is my Friday. I am taking tomorrow off to take my niece Erin to look at a college she was accepted to but hasn't visited yet.

  2. After the college tour, I will be headin up to my nephew's for a weekend of Tom Foolery and Rockin' out. That's right, I am schlepping Rock Band AND Guitar Hero...and I have to pack my car in daylight...hahaha!

  3. My big project at home this week has been to lessen the noise from my elderly neighbors below (you know, when you're older things need to be louder) so I added a fan in my bedroom to create some ambient noise and that is working nicely. Next I bought a great pair of corless headphones and set them up for TV watching in the living room. I got them yesterday and they are awesome! Their TV is always so loud that I can't really relax and watch an hour of tv before bed most nights. These headphones not only have great sound and negate any noise from downstairs, but I can walk around my apartment and still hear the program, (or at least tell when the ads are over!) I LOVE THEM!

  4. Another project I have been working on is "The Ultimate Lost Boys Soundtrack"!! This is a project that I have been dying to accomplish for decades!! (along with the Ultimate Goonies Soundtrack!, but that is provin extremely difficult...) I watched The Lost Boys Sunday night and decided to go and look online for any score music that was available, even tho the score is not very melodic and more background and sound effect-ish. I knew none had ever been published, but wondered if anyone had even separated soundtrack from film. At least it would be something! Within 15 minutes I found a chat forum and a link to download 17 tracks of the original Lost Boys Score by Thomas Newton. Clean and crisp sounding I was psyched that I now had the chance to make my Ultimate Lost Boys Soundtrack. The music will be in order as it appeared in the film so it flows through the story line. I haven't decided yet, but I might pull a "Cinemix" (as coined by my friend Dave P) and sprinkle in some sound clips as well...I will ahve to see if that will help or hurt the flow. I am just excited to have the opportunity to work on this pet project!!! If anyone is interested in a copy I would be glad to burn you one. Just email me at cclifeblog@hotmail.com and I will send you one! (complete with my watercolor cover design!!!)

  5. I get to see all my animal friends tonight. I am traveling after work tonght to my sister's house so that Erin and I can leave early tomorrow for the college tour. If 4 cats, 2 dogs and a bird sounds crazy to you, you are right! But what a riot they are. I am looking forward to "Cats and dogs, living together" fun!

Thursday Thoughts

The return of Thursday Thoughts!! Lets see how short and sweet I can make all of these!
  1. You all know how annoyed I am by the latest news that the Sequesl to one of my favorite movies EVER is coming out on DVD this summer. Yes, the Lost Boys: The Tribe. ARG. Interesting bit of info noone seems to be talking is about the Vampire who is the head of the gang. Anyone know who plays him? IMDB lists the actor's name as Angus SUTHERLAND. Um yea, that would be Donald Sutherland's son and Keiffer Sutherland's half brother...LAME!
  2. I have never been to a comedy club before. Tomorrow night I am going with a bunch of friends. It should be fun. And I promise I will refrain from taking over the stage with my own jokes...haha.

  3. Have you ever sneezed and instantly got the feeling (that taste at the back of your throat) that you are getting sick? That just happened to me while I was typing. Not Good. Not Good!!

  4. Over the last three weeks I have become re-addicted to a PC game I have had for about 7 or 8 years. I've never had a computer powerful enough at the the time to get the full impact, but now that I have my own computer, I am really enjoying it! It is called Pharaoh and it is a city building game. In grabbing that link I just posted, I found that in 2000 they had released an expansion pack called Cleopatra...Oh yea, that is going on my wish list on Amazon right now
  5. OMG~ Anyone remember me telling about the USA Network show called "The Big Easy"? I just got an email last week (how weird that I was just blogging about it!) from TV ON DVD that the first season is being released this JUNE!!!! I am totally getting that y'all. I mean, Remy McSwain is my man!!! BTW, that site is awesome. You can look up ANY TV show or nominate any show in hopes that it will be put on a DVD release schedule...I am still hoping for the 1990's Mission Impossible, another one of my favorites!

Ahh...Thursday Thoughts. It's been a while! Tonight after work I meet my friend Chantal for dinner and I am so looking forward to it. It's been a few weeks since we hung out and it will be great to catch up!

I leave you with my latest Celebrity Look-Alike results. Lynda Carter (Wonderwoman!!) and Jessica Alba!!?? Two of my favorite gals!! That site is crazy BUT too much FUN!:)

Thursday Thoughts at Work

So it's Thursday.

I have been Supervising, training and pitching in in the Sample Department for the last two weeks to get some major mailings out the last two weeks. The person who does this is out sick so I have headed the force that has kept our samples and catelog mailings under control.

Today the word was put out by the higher ups that it is taking too much of my time and that I need to be freed up to do more of my regular work. Funny thing is that I was told I would be doing all of this by my Supervisor so I figured this was priority and purchasing would have to miss me for a few days a week max while I got everyone on track and oversaw etc. I also got in there and stuffed envelopes and made sample kits on top of setting a schedule and troubleshooting. Apparently I am missed and I need to be back sitting at my desk doing purchasing here and there and waiting for my boss, the president to speak to me. :) Hey, if they want me back at my desk doing the same old...fine, I am happy to blog and surf a few hours out of the day because noone has any other work for me to do. Whatever.

Whatever? You mean I am not going to rant about this?

Nope. For some reason, the past two weeks have been completely different for me. I don't know if a lightbulb has gone on inside me, but my demeanor has changed drastically. I guess you could say I have a "Do your worst!" attitude. Instead of getting all riled up about work and stressing myself out, I have realized that I am not STUCK here, There IS more to life than this and I WILL find it. I seem to just know this deep down and I have a sense of peace about it. Reminds me of that weird song from the 90's by called Loser, it says: "Im a driver, Im a winner; things are gonna change I can feel it"

There is light at the end of this tunnel, and I am on a steady course to see what lies ahead!

IN OTHER NEWS:

OOH! I FINALLY started reading ATLAS SHRUGGED. I am only about 30 pages into it, but it has hooked me already. I am VERY excited about this book and I am hoping that I like it as much as I think I will. It will take me a while, but I am game!

This weekend I am FINALLY making it to my parents house for a visit. The nasty winter weather has kept me from there the past few times so I am excited to go home for real. Friday I am attending my neice's high school play. They are doing "Beauty and The Beast" one musical I like the least, (hey, poet! but I know it!) but Erin is in it and I would go see her regardless 'cause she's my partnet in crime! The rest of the weekend will entail cross country skiing, some pool playing and teaching the folks to play dominos 'cause I am addicted!!!

Ug. The end of the day is moments away. I am heading to the library to work until 8:30 tonight and then home to do laundry and pack for the weekend. I get out early tomorrow to get a head start and do a few errands before the play so I am psyched! Hopefully I will get a chance to blog tomorrow and do something silly...I did promise Chantal some "CC Originals" when it comes to picture editing, so stay tuned!:) I haven't been wacky in awhile!
